CSforALL hosted NSF on a Recent Q&A Webinar on Managing Grants

In response to Novel Coronavirus (COVID-1), CSforALL committed to a series of Community Calls to support the extended CSforALL Community. On March 31st, CSforALL hosted its first webinar of the series with the National Science Foundation’s Jeff Forbes and Allyson Kennedy to help the community answer questions about the impact of COVID-19, social distancing rules, and school shutdowns on currently funded NSF projects. During the call Jeff shared a powerpoint presentation and several resources with the community with general guidance from NSF.

Additionally, Jeff and Allyson answered questions from participants on the call. You can view the full call on our CSforALL Vimeo channel.

Webinar Highlights:

  • Your institution still has a fair amount of control over the grants once they are awarded. Check with your grants management office (if you have one) for details around cancelled travel or other emergency situations.
  • The NSF is prepared for Principal Investigators to need to make adjustments to the activities planned for the current year. If you are unsure whether a change would be allowed, please reach out to your particular program officer (you can find their email on the solicitation page, as well as in grants.gov).
  • Please be patient — it may take them a bit to respond as they are also setting up panels for spring solicitations as well.
  • Document everything and be prepared to be specific in your annual report to changes in research plans, methods, budget, etc.
