May Tina Boyle Whyte Rest in Peace, 2023

With a heavy heart, the CSforALL team mourns the passing of Tina Boyle Whyte. Tina was a lifelong learner, a natural optimist, a dedicated mentor, and a genuine, tender, fun-loving person who loved the promise of education deeply and devoted her life to bettering the next generations. She was also a wonderful colleague and friend to many, including the CSforALL staff and the computer science community. We will miss her very much.

Tina joined CSforALL in 2019 as the Director of JROTC-CS Demonstration Project, where she brought her experiences of computer science education and military service together to make a difference for underrepresented minorities and historically marginalized students and communities. With her leadership and relentless drive, Tina built effective partnerships with Junior ROTC schools, national tech organizations and CS thought leaders across the country to provide a uniquely scalable opportunity to rapidly grow and diversify the pool of talent entering computing and cybersecurity careers.

In addition to her work at CSforALL, at Marquette University, Tina was an Adjunct Professor of Practice in the Department of Computer Science; a Ph.D. candidate in Philosophy; and working towards a Master of Science in computer science. Previously, she earned Master’s degrees in education administration and human resources management; an honorary doctorate in human services; and a degree in criminology and life sciences at MU.

Please join us in sending our sincerest condolences, and deepest thoughts and prayers to her husband, Bishop Wayne Whyte, the Boyle and Whyte family, and friends.

CSforALL will be hosting a virtual gathering of remembrance for Tina Boyle Whyte on February 1, 2023 at 3:00 PM ET (Register Here). We encourage you to participate by sharing your memories of Tina in the form of photos, video clips and/or quotes. Please send contributions to: media@csforall.org.
